There's never enough time!

I've been busy this week trying to get a scrapbook of my sister's holiday done but it proved to be an impossible task. I got about half of it donw but when you have hundreds of photos, even deciding what to use is a mammoth task. So, having whittled them down to a manageable number, all that remains is to scrapbook them. (All?) She may not have it to take home tomorrow but as I'm off to the UK in June, I'm sure she can wait. After all, she has a CD to show everyone what an awesome time she had here.
I've also been working on my ANZAC day pages and have finished my Dad's old navy photo plus a 'Lest we Forget' card. I made oone poppy using felt pieces, and the others using tissue paper. They worked out great and were so easy. If only everything was like that!

OK so if you've found this blog you're on the old one!

I don't know how I did this but I got a weird address with this blog so have abandoned it and now blog on a simpler address for me and for all my customers. Use the address below to move over to the most recent blogs. Yes, I know. I'm blog illiterate and tech phobic but am trying really hard.

Will I ever get a photo posted into my blog?

I'd like to say "I give up" but I don't so I won't. I'm determined to get a picture in with the writing. It's a real pain if you have to flip between pages to read the blog and then look at the picture. So here goes. Mind you, I don't hold out much hope as I've just been to the dentist for a filling and a crown and I'm feeling rather sorry for myself at the moment. Still, got a nice cup of tea and some rubbish telly I videoed (is that a real word and if it is, did I spell it right?) so I should feel better soon.
Well what do you know, the help button actually did help. Here's a picture of some stuff I've done recently. A baby sign using papers to cover the canvasses and the letters, just a bit of judicious filing makes the edges of the letters really neat. The name signs were done in the same way but I painted the edges of the backboards and the letters. Neat eh?
Now I know how to add photos, I will get on with another project and then let you know how I get on. Cheers, Doreen

What a day!!!

I don't know about where you are in the world but it's been horribly hot and humid here. Still, I braved it and got the lawn cut and some brassicas planted and then spent the rest of the day on the house with the air conditioner on (lucky, aren't I?) and crafted. I've been making a nursery decoration/ sign and here's a picture of the B for BABY. I've created the sign by using 6" by 6" canvasses and some awesome pages which have mothers and babies on them. Well, not real mothers or real babies - this one is a deer and her fawn. Others are a bird and her chicks, a hedgehog and her - what do you call hedgehog babies? Hedges? Hogs? Who knows? Not me and that's for sure.
Anyway, to get back to the canvas, I stuck the paper on using mod podge (an adhesive which doubles as a sealer) then used the other side of this gorgeous double sided paper for the letters. I used mod podge for those too. I then filed round the letters and inked the edges with an inkpad to give them a good finish before sticking them onto the canvasses with really tacky double sided tape. It's brilliant but don't get it wrong because there's no way it's letting you move it. To finish off I wrapped a pretty piece of ribbon round the edge of the canvas and voila! It's finished. Cute! Take a look in photos to see. (Note to self! Must learn how to add photos to this page!)

It's Springtime somewhere in the world.

Got a delivery of papers yesterday and you've guessed it, one of the collections is called Once Upon A Springtime. Awesome! Don't know what I'm going to do with it but know I'm going to do something. Also got Halloween in Wonderland papers. These designers have great imaginations. I, unfortunately, don't. But I can see cards made from the Halloween papers, and bits cut out of the Springtime to adorn a scrapbooking page. I'll post pictures when I've got something to show you. It's crazier than I thought!

When I bought my small craft shop in beautiful Wanganui I thought it would be a piece of cake. And it is, well parts of it at least. I love the shop, interacting with people, working on crafts, ordering new stock and opening parcels. Christmas every day! How bad can that be? Well, it's not bad - but it's not all there is either.
What don't I like? Well, let's see. How about making sure you keep restocked and don't only order all the new stuff or just the stuff you like. Or making sure the books are up to date. Or making sure you meet you budget requirements. Boring!!!! But essential for the long term good of the company, and me too if I want to live in the style to which I have become accustomed. (Food on the table, a roof over my head! Nothing grand.)
And so I'm busy learning to juggle lots of balls at the same time. And with a new online shop and now this blog that's a lot of balls. And between juggling I make cards or create scrapbooking pages. Here's a picture of a card I made yesterday from the new DoCrafts Papermania Capsule Collection that arrived in the shop last week. I'm hoping I can add a picture. APologies if it's not there but I won't know till I've published this. Well, I am just a new blogger!) Just a pre-made card, covered with a dark stripey paper, with a flourish border type paper down one side and a flowery script paper across the bottom. Add a strip of ribbon and a tiny bow plus a sticker greeting in silver and you've got yourself a decent card. No fancy machines, just some double sided tape, a pair of scissors, oh and a sticker maker for the ribbon. Hi tech, eh?
